For example if you are working with a seven column CSV file and want to extract the first four columns of data select “Extract Columns by Start and End Position� select "1" as the start position and select "4� as the end position. Another example: if you want to extract data from an HTML table enter the unique characters at the beginning and end. Both examples return text in the preserved format: columns of data are adjacent to each other and rows are separated by carriage returns. Selecting “Extract every column separated by these characters� will extract each row separately. For example a plain English text file extracted with “Space� as the separating character will be displayed as every word in one column each word starting a new row.
