Red Ribbon Week is fast approaching and another opportunity to create a series of programs that will impact our students in a positive way. While Red Ribbon Week is focused mainly on the commemoration of the life of fallen DEA agent Kiki Camarena I believe the week provides and opportunity to leverage into a variety of character-building areas. Why not utilize the week and red ribbon week ideas to find school assemblies that teach and impact kids on subjects that will help their lives but are not normally taught in day to day education. There is strong data suggesting that the more of our olfactory senses are involved in learning the better retention and impact. Humans by their very nature need to touch feel see and hear something to give the best chance for learning. We tend to remember those things that stand out in our minds and the learning tools that provide an all-encompassing experience are attached to the desired learning lesson (red ribbon week school assemblies).
